    Editor's Comments:

The one thing horse lovers have in common is their obsession with the horse. Beyond that there is no agreeing on anything. Horse people by nature are a very practical bunch, until you ask them for a practical answer to a very simple question. The ensuing advice will include numerous suggestions.

Learning, appreciating and accepting the existence of the vast diversity in the world of horses is good training ground for the appreciation of fine art. There are art experts who will advise you on the value, quality and wisdom of investing in certain works of fine art. But like purchasing a horse, you have to eventually choose for yourself. You are the expert when it comes to deciding on an original to complement your home and your life. We have included an article discussing the placement of fine art in the home and how it will help find a balance and focus to a room.

There is contrast and balance in everything. Contrast and balance, light and dark - in the artistic vernacular - chiaroscuro. I used to think this word only applied to the world of fine art, but after reading the article about it in this issue, I began to observe its meaning elsewhere. Explore the concept of chiaroscuro in the article From Dark to Light, and you will gain more insight to the expression, “All the world’s a chiaroscuro.”

      Enjoy!
