"Sunday Driver", a watercolor by cover artist Jane Apgar Sommers, was inspired at the Nevada County Fairgrounds during the Draft Horse Classic horse show that is an annual event in Grass Valley, California. The driver's summer hat to shield her face, the late afternoon sun and the peaceful shadows make up an idyllic lazy summer afternoon out for a drive in a jog cart without a care in the world.

Jane Sommers' lifelong compassion for horses is transmitted to her pastels, watercolors, colored pencil and graphite works of art. She has been exhibiting at the Draft Horse Classic¹s Art Show since 1995. She explains, "In my opinion, it's the best event in Grass Valley. It led me to purchase, in 1996, the property I now live on. So I guess it is because of this event that I now live in one of the most beautiful places on earth."

"I am currently downsizing from a 400-acre ranch to a little over 100 acres, and am building a new home for myself and my horses, dogs and goats. In the process I am also building a new studio."

Reminiscing she remarks, "I wish I could go back in time and visit myself when I was ten years old and keeping a stable full of Breyer horses in my bedroom where I constantly drew pictures of horses so I could tell myself, "Just you wait!"
