Pines Metal, one-of-a-kind wall hanging by James Ardis. ![]() |
The use of metal is more versatile than wood or stone as it can be cut, bent, pounded, drilled, or melted while retaining its strength. His unique wall hangings and garden art in copper are enchanting. Lively and spirited, the horses fly through the air in a joyful exuberance, seemingly weightless and carefree. The exhilaration felt by every equestrian has been translated by Ardis into handmade copper creations and bronze sculpture. Ardis was born into an artistic family and has dabbled around with university studies off and on for at least fifteen years. He feels his personal artistic style is not very complex. Ardis states, "I love to communicate the ideas I have and I love being able to see life going on around me, and then recreate with my hands any small part of that beauty. Energy, motion, fluid line, I love to watch them, catch them for just a moment all qualities I find readily in my favorite subject, the horse." His stylized horses harbor a whimsical spirit and describing one of his copper wall hangings Ardis commented, "Its balanced nature and simple arrangement are a true representation of how I feel about both art and the horse." |
