"Your life is the manifestation of your dream; it is an art. And you can change your life anytime if you aren’t enjoying the dream. Dream masters create a masterpiece of life; they control the dream by making choices."
— Don Miguel Ruiz
This summer issue talks about dreams in several articles. It is a fascinating subject on many levels. Our conscious and unconscious dreams are, at times, the very thing that keeps us going, breaking the monotony of our mundane tasks. To artists dreams are often the source of a concept for a new work of art.
We have all dreamed of our own ideal life, a unique vision for each of us. There are many what ifs that we envision in our heads. We dream of a completely different life, living in a different place, with other people, speaking another language, playing out an entire scenario that will only ever exist in our mind.
Although at times childish in nature, these mental exercises need not be wasted. Even if we don’t carry out the dream in its entirety, we can make small changes in our life that take parts of the dream and make a difference to others. I do so admire Mindy Colton’s new sculpture, Leap of Faith, for its originality, its spirit of adventure, and its successful execution. It communicates in three dimensions what I am attempting to say with words. If there is something you should do, or say, don’t hesitate, get on with it. Take the leap, stick your neck out there, live a little piece of that dream, push yourself just a little each day for the benefit of those all around you. Enjoy.
